Munugode By Election on Nov 3
The deadline for submitting nominations is October 14
It is to be noted that after sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy switched allegiance to the BJP, consequently, the Munugode electorate in Telangana’s Nalgonda district became vacant.
The Election Commission of India published the timetable for the Munugode bye election on Monday, Oct 3.
Munugode Assembly Constituency
- Munugode Assembly constituency is one of the 12 constituencies in the Nalgonda district.
- It is part of the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency.
- The seat was won by Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy of the Indian National Congress in the 2018 Assembly election.
Munugode By Election Results On November 6
The election will be held on Nov 3, and the votes will be counted on Nov 6.
Munugode’s bye-poll is touted and is like “Izzat Ka Sawal” for all the parties. It is a powerful election that will foreshadow the prospects of the TRS, BJP, and Congress in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections.
Munugode By Election Candidates
- Palvai Sravanthi, the daughter of Congress stalwart Palvai Govardhan Reddy, has been named the party’s face for the Munugode bye election.
- The BJP is slated to field Rajagopal Reddy, while the TRS has yet to name a candidate.
- Ex Munugode MLA Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, Karne Prabhakar, Boora Narsaiah Goud, Karnati Vidyasagar, and either Gutha Sukender Reddy or his son Gutha Amith Reddy are among the leading TRS contenders.
BJP’s Telangana in charge Sunil Bansal predicted the Munugode bye-election dates and said that the elections could happen during the first or second week of November.
Bansal made the announcement at a party meeting held in Choutuppal on October 1 and instructed party workers to work for BJP’s victory.
The same has been criticized by Minister KT Rama Rao and quoted:
“Before “EC,” the BJP publishes the election dates!
Before “ED,” the BJP will reveal the names!
Before “NIA” BJP Issues The Ban!
Before “IT” BJP declares The Amount!
Before the “CBI,” the BJP names the accused! and suggested BJP to rebrand itself as “BJ…EC-CBI-NIA-IT-ED…Party in his official tweet handle.
For the unaware, the ex-Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned as MLA earlier this month.
On August 21, he officially joined the BJP during a public rally at Munugode in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
