TRS History
TRS party was founded on 27 April 2001 as Telangana Rashtra Samithi by K. Chandrashekar Rao.
It has been instrumental in carrying forth a sustained agitation for the granting of statehood to Telangana.
As of September 2020, the TRS party holds 7 seats in upper house of Rajya Sabha.
Workers for the party let off fireworks in celebration of the historic occasion outside the party headquarters.
The awaited meeting of the extended executive committee of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party ( TRS ), chaired by CM KCR, began on Wednesday.
Around 280 party leaders, including state executive members, ministers, MPs, legislators, and district unit presidents, were present.
The meeting was also attended by the JD (S) leader and former Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy who arrived here in Hyderabad with 20 of his party’s MLAs, as well as with two MPs from Tamil Nadu’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).
On the other hand, BJP Telangana spokesperson, Natcharaju Venkata Subhash called KCR’s foray into national politics a ‘ploy’ to divert attention away from his government’s failures.
The new party purchased a 12-seater aircraft worth 100 crores. This is a well-known example of public money being stolen.
In spite of KCR’s national party declaration, the Bharat Rastra Samithi does not currently qualify to be a national party.
The party must now have a presence in at least 4 states or have received 6 percent of the vote in any 4 states, and 4 Lok Sabha seats to be recognized as a national party, Subhas said.
