Born into a humble family in Aarigam, Pulwama, Insha has emerged as a symbol of independence, resilience, and transformation.
Today, she is the proud owner of a boutique, managing her business with determination and grace.
Insha is just one of the many success stories resulting from the Central Government’s Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission.
The Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) is a government scheme in India designed to assist the impoverished population by offering skill training.
This program serves as a successor to Aajeevik and has received a budgetary allocation of ₹500 crore (US$63 million) from the Government of India. The primary aim of DAY is to provide skill training to half a million people annually in urban areas, starting from the year 2016.
This initiative has been instrumental in providing opportunities for girls and women like Insha, empowering them to pursue their aspirations and break barriers.
Through this program, Insha and others have found the support they need to soar to new heights and create positive changes in their lives.
During an interview with the media amid the ongoing Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Insha shared her journey, recounting that she first learned about the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) in 2017 and promptly registered for it.
This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Rural Development in 2011, aims to establish efficient institutional platforms for rural communities.
The goal is to empower the rural poor, allowing them to augment household income through sustainable livelihood improvements and better access to financial services.
Insha disclosed that her passion for designing and crafting clothes had been present since her childhood. The pivotal moment in her life came when she enrolled in the local tailoring school under DAY-NRLM.
Her innate talent and interest in designing not only transformed into a business opportunity but also became a means of earning a livelihood.
Upon completing the design course at the institute, Insha envisioned establishing her boutique. With the support of a PMEGP Umeed loan and assistance from DAY-NRLM, she successfully materialized her dream, setting up her boutique and achieving a significant milestone in her journey towards independence and economic self-sufficiency.
In the face of limited resources and scarce opportunities, dreams can often appear as distant stars in the night sky. However, for Insha, the DAY-NRLM proved to be the catalyst that allowed her to turn her dream into reality.
Insha expressed that without the subsidized loan provided by the scheme, starting her business might have remained an unattainable goal. The support from DAY-NRLM played a crucial role in bridging the gap, making it possible for Insha to pursue her aspirations and transform her dreams into tangible accomplishments.
Insha expressed her admiration for the government’s business schemes, acknowledging their role in empowering the youth and contributing to the vision of a new, developed India.
She emphasized that success is no longer limited to the affluent, as individuals from humble backgrounds and villages are now establishing thriving businesses.
Grateful for the government’s initiatives, Insha highlighted that these schemes have played a pivotal role in enabling her financial independence.
Today, she not only oversees her own finances but also creates employment opportunities for other women through her boutique. Despite its modest size, the boutique has become synonymous with progress (vikas) and self-reliance (aatmanirbharta).
Insha’s journey exemplifies how such government initiatives can positively impact individuals, fostering economic independence and contributing to the larger goal of national development.
