Amazon has announced that it will set up 3 solar farms in Rajasthan, India. Read to know how setting up these solar farms help India’s energy needs.
Amazon’s plan for three solar farms will have a combined capacity of 420 megawatts. Amazon, already an established entity in e-commerce is set to venture and build a solar farm for the first time in India.
Amazon 3 power projects with power purchase agreements (PPAs) in place would include:
- A 110-MW project to be introduced by Brookfield Renewable Partners,
- A 100-MW project to be developed by Amp Energy India, and
- A 210-MW project to be built by ReNew Power
What is included in Amazon’s Solar Plan?
- Amazon will establish 23 new rooftop solar projects with a combined potential to produce an additional 4.09 MW of electricity across 14 Indian towns.
- This would enhance its total number of solar photovoltaic solar rooftop installation projects in the country to 41 with 19.7 MW of renewable energy capacity.
What Use Do Solar Farms Serve?
- More areas of India will benefit from linked green jobs and investments, supporting large-scale corporate renewable energy purchase alternatives in the nation.
- These farms can generate 1.07 million MW hours of renewable energy yearly, which is more than enough to power approx 360,000 average-sized homes in New Delhi for a whole year.
