Sonali Phogat Case – A Goa restaurant connected to the death of Sonali Phogat has been demolished due to environmental violations.
It is to be noted that the Sonali Phogat, a BJP politician passed away on August 23, hours after her drink at Curlies Restaurant on Anjuna Beach had been tampered with by her personal assistant.
Civic Authorities began dismantling the Curlies Restaurant in Goa on Friday morning because it had violated regulations for the coastal regulation zone, as per ANI.
Sonali Phogat’s acquaintances allegedly slipped a narcotic into her drink at the establishment last month, according to the police.
A few hours later, she was transported dead to a hospital.
The Anjuna Beach restaurant was being demolished because its management failed to obtain approval from the National Green Tribunal in a 2016 case. The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority’s decision to destroy the eatery was affirmed by the tribunal.
THE CASE DIARY
Phogat looked to have had a heart attack, according to the police, when they first arrived at the hospital in North Goa on August 23 to find her dead.
However, two days later, Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka filed a report alleging that his sister had been murdered by Sudhir Sangwan, her personal assistant, and Sukhvinder Singh, another employee of Sangwan.
On August 25, the police then opened a murder investigation, and the following day they detained Sangwan and Singh.
On August 27, as per the cops, Sangwan and Singh admitted to mixing a “obnoxious substance” into a drink and forcing Phogat to consume it during a party.
Based on the reports, it is learnt that the event happened at Curlies Restaurant sometime between August 22 and August 23.
The nightclub, bar, and restaurant businesses owned by Edwin and Linet Nunes must stop all commercial activity, according to the coastal management organization.
Phogat had risen to fame with her videos on the TikTok app. She had joined the BJP in 2008.
She ran for the Haryana Assembly in 2019 from the Adampur constituency and was defeated by Kuldeep Bishnoi, a Congress leader at the time.
She also took part in the reality competition Bigg Boss in 2020.
