Hyderabadis will soon witness the 7-story Secretariat building, near Tank Bund, which is almost near completion.
The tower, with a built-up area of over 7 lakh sft with all modern amenities, is expected to cost more than Rs 600 crore to construct.
Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao will dedicate the new building to Dr. BR Ambedkar and name it as Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Feb 17 2023, as per state R&B Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy.
The date was selected as it is on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkar’s birthday, the statement informed.
It should be noted that KCR laid the groundwork for the new Secretariat facility on June 27, 2019.
However, due to pending proceedings in the High Court as well as the Covid-19 outbreak, the work was put on hold.
Following the court’s denial of petitions filed by opposition parties and activists, building began in December 2020 and was finished in two years.
As per the officials, 90% of the work in all wings of the new building has been done, and the remaining 10% of work, like dome and construction of few blocks, will be completed by the end of January.
Post construction, the Roads and Buildings Department will hand over the premises to the GAD ( General Administration Department).
