BHASHINI, a part of the National Language Translation Mission, is India’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) led language translation platform to make AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) materials available to MSME (Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises), Startups and Individual Innovators in the public domain.
The mission aims to connect Indians to the internet to access the global content in their own languages.
Earlier in May, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology held a brainstorming event with Researchers and Start-ups aimed to shape strategy for Digital India BHASHINI [BHASHA Interface for India].
SIGNIFICANCE OF BHASHINI
Digital Inclusion:
- It will enable Indians by connecting them to the Digital Initiatives in their own language thereby leading to digital inclusion.
- It will motivate participation of startups.
Digital Governance:
- Mission will support an ecosystem involving Central/State government agencies and start-ups, to jointly develop and establish creative products and services in Indian regional languages.
- It is a colossus step to realize the goal of Digital Government.
Content in Indian Languages:
- The platform also aims to rise the content in Indian languages considerably in the domains of public interest, particularly, governance-and-policy, science & technology, etc., thus will motivating the citizens to use the Internet in one’s own language.

India Stack |
IndiaStack is a set of platforms and App Programming Interface (APIs) that help govts, and enterprises, startups and developers to use a unique digital Infrastructure to solve issues with presence less, paperless, and cashless service delivery. |
National Digital Educational Architecture (NDEAR) |
To strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure for education, the govt has set up National Digital Educational Architecture (NDEAR) within the context of a Digital First Mindset, not only helping teaching and learning activities but also in education planning, governance, and admin activities of the Centre and the States / UTs. |
