Under CMV Act, no person under the age of 18 is allowed to drive a motor vehicle in any public place.
A motor vehicle with an engine capacity not exceeding 50 cc may be driven in a public place by a person after attaining 16 years of age, provided they have parents consent.
Anooradha Rao appealed to the parents, tagging this video “shows that you are not thinking about your children’s future. Please make time for your children and explain the good and negative in depth.
Please do not spoil him while he is young”. he said
Individuals above the age of 16 can obtain a learner’s licence, and the vehicle capacity cannot exceed 50cc, according to the law.
However, children cannot drive light motor vehicles (even if it is without gear) without the parents being liable for their driving.
Underage Driving Is Illegal: Traffic Laws And Penalties
A kid riding a motorcycle is a typical sight on Indian highways.
A person who is under the age of 18 and resides in India is deemed a minor under Section 3 of the Indian Majority Act of 1875.
Without a doubt, the country is facing a situation that is causing substantial problems. Young people have died as a result of reckless driving.
The minimum age to apply for a valid driving permit to drive a motorbike is 18. These underage drivers are mostly school going students.
Although, the circulars are sent to in schools regarding the issue of underage driving it barely has any effect on the underage drivers.
If your child is below the age of 18, it is better to not provide him with the keys of the motorbike.
In adverse situations, even if you have a motorbike insurance policy it is not going to be of any help, as you cannot claim in the event of minors meeting with an accident.
Responsibility Of Parents
It is the parents’ responsibility to keep an eye on their children’s activities.
If minors are riding motorbikes keeping their parents in the loop or their parents are informed about the same even the parents need to be punished in case of any misfortune.
The parents also need to realize the importance of law and order.
