Chandigarh Airport Renamed
The decision was taken on September 25, 2022, as a tribute to the freedom fighter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman renamed the Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The Prime minister said that the decision had been waiting for a long time.
In his “Mann ki Baat,” PM Modi stated that the decision had been pending for a quite long time. He also thanked the people of Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana, as well as the entire country.
The Punjab administration was negotiating with Haryana about naming the Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
Airport Renaming Event. Who all participated?
At the airport, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, and Union Minister Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh attended the ceremony.
The event was also attended by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, and MP from Chandigarh Kirron Kher.
