It is to be noted that recently the Government of India has officially announced the first phase of the Census 2027 in Rajasthan, focusing on house listing and housing conditions.

During this phase, enumerators will collect responses to 33 structured questions covering housing materials, household size, ownership status, access to water, sanitation, cooking fuel, internet connectivity, and asset ownership. A self-enumeration facility will also be provided to residents before door-to-door surveys begin.

The data collected will form the foundation for the population enumeration phase and support evidence-based policy planning.
33 Questions to Be Asked in First Phase
The Government of India has issued official directives for the first phase of the Census of India 2027 in Rajasthan.
This phase, focused on house listing and housing information, will be carried out over a 30-day period, duing which enumerators will visit households to collect detailed data.
Under the notification issued by the Registrar General of India, a total of 33 questions will be asked during this stage.
These questions are designed to gather comprehensive information not only about the structure and condition of the house, but also about the living standards, amenities, and socio-economic profile of the residents.
The questionnaire will include basic details such as the materials used in the floor, walls, and roof of the house, ownership status, and the number of rooms.

It will also record household characteristics like the name and gender of the head of the family, the number of people living in the home, and the main cereal consumed by the household.
In addition to physical and household information, questions will also cover facility access — such as drinking water, latrine type, cooking fuel, and internet availability — along with ownership of items like radios, televisions, computers, and vehicles.
For the convenience of residents, a self-enumeration option will be available during the initial part of this phase, allowing households to submit their information directly before enumerators begin door-to-door visits.
The data collected in this first phase will help build a detailed picture of housing and living conditions across Rajasthan and will form a foundation for the subsequent population enumeration phase of Census 2027.
