Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening the state’s administrative system, expressing optimism that Meghalaya will soon have its own separate Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre.
Addressing the annual conference of the Meghalaya Civil Service Officers’ Association, Sangma revealed that he has been advocating for the creation of a distinct Meghalaya cadre since 2019.
“I have been pursuing this since 2019, and I am hopeful that the proposal will soon materialize,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized that reforms within the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) remain a key focus area for his administration, alongside other government services.
Applauding the dedication and perseverance of MCS officers, Sangma encouraged them to remain guided by the spirit of purpose and service.
“Positions and ranks will change, but the purpose must remain constant,” he reminded.
