North Zone Task Force Arrests 17 Fake Hijras For Forced Money Collection Scam
North Zone Task Force officials have detained 17 people accused of forcefully collecting money from commuters at various traffic intersections within the city under the guise of being hijras (Eunuch).
Task Force officials confirmed that the majority of those begging for money at traffic intersections were in fact posing as fake hijras.
Upon receiving numerous complaints from commuters about harassment from supposed hijras, North Zone police took action.
Seventeen individuals were taken into custody, all of whom were confirmed to be impersonating hijras.
In a joint operation with the Task Force, Ramgopalpet police apprehended individuals from a range of locations including Mahankali, Bowenpally, Begumpet, Maredpally, and Ramgopalpet.
Charges have been filed against the accused for extortion, fraud, and creating a public nuisance.
According to the police, interestingly some hijras targeted susceptible young individuals, convincing them to beg at traffic intersections under the promise of a steady income.
