The Ministry of Education will host Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) 4.0 beginning 2 December 2025, reaffirming the deep-rooted historical and cultural bond between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
Organised under the national integration mission Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, this initiative blends cultural exchange, linguistic learning, academic cooperation and heritage awareness to promote India’s shared civilisational identity.
Coordinated by IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), with support from multiple Union ministries and the Uttar Pradesh Government, the Sangamam has grown into a powerful cultural platform since its launch in 2022.

It now serves as a bridge reconnecting ancient knowledge systems, encouraging participation from scholars, students, artists and community leaders.
The 2025 theme, “Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam”, highlights the growing importance of regional languages in national integration.
Over 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu—including educators, researchers, writers, professionals, women leaders, farmers and spiritual scholars—will take part in an eight-day journey across Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya, participating in seminars, cultural events and heritage tours.
Key heritage visits include places deeply connected to Tamil legacy in Kashi, such as the ancestral home of Subramania Bharati, Kedar Ghat, Kasi Madam, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and Mata Annapurna Temple.
Academic interaction at BHU’s Tamil Department will further strengthen linguistic and scholarly links.
Among the landmark initiatives is the Sage Agasthya Vehicle Expedition from Tenkasi to Kashi, symbolising civilisational continuity forged by ancient southern dynasties.
Under the Tamil Karkalam programme, 50 Tamil teachers will conduct spoken Tamil classes in Varanasi schools, while 300 Kashi students will receive immersive Tamil education at institutions across Tamil Nadu, supported by CICT Chennai.
Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 is not just an event—it is a cultural movement reconnecting India’s spiritual geography with her linguistic heritage.
