Vande Bharath Express Service – Vishakapatnam To Secunderabad
The made-in-India Vande Bharat Express, the eighth in the series and the country’s second fastest train, will be inaugurated on January 16 from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad, with world-class passenger amenities.
The train will cut the travel time between the two cities in half. On its regular schedule, the Vande Bharat Express will be the only day train between the two cities, which are approximately 690 kilometers apart.
The Vande Bharat Express will travel the distance in 8:30 hours, as opposed to the overnight Duronto Express, which will take 10:30 hours.
Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is India’s semi-high-speed intercity electric multiple-unit train.
It was designed and built by the Indian Railways’ Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in a record 18 months.
The train was introduced in February 2019 as a replacement for the Shatabdi Express. It features many modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, a GPS-based passenger information system, and bio-vacuum toilets.
The train operates on the Delhi-Varanasi and Delhi-Katra(Vaishno Devi) route. It is considered to be a symbol of the “Make in India” initiative.
The Vande Bharat Express has a top speed of 160 kmph but is limited to 130 kmph in certain sections between Secunderabad and Vijayawada.
Its top speed would be around 120 kilometres per hour. The Duronto Express has a top speed of 120 kmph, but its average speed is around 90 kmph.
The train will run every day except Sunday, stopping in Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Khammam, and Warangal on its way to Secunderabad.
It will have 16 coaches, which will include executive class chair cars and chair cars.
