Urban forest parks is a Forestry Wing, created in HMDA (erstwhile HUDA) in the year 1986 with the aim of bringing open spaces under greenery by initiating different types of plantation models like block plantation, avenue plantation, tree parks, colony parks and gardens in order to improve the overall environment of Hyderabad for better quality of human life.
Six urban forest parks that are scheduled to open today, would help providing key ecosystem services, like filtering air and water, that are essential to healthy human community in Hyderabad, where air pollution and water management can pose public health risks.
“Urban Forests make people healthier” – Trees Improve Water Quality and Reduce Soil Erosion.
The parks are all set to be inaugurated on Thursday by Forest Minister Indrakaran Reddy and Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Unlike Normal Parks In Hyderabad, The UF Parks have been developed on vast portion of land parcels. The Following UF Parks Will Be Open From Today For Public Are.
- Nagaram Forest Park in Maheshwaram mandal Spread over in 556.69 hectares,
- Pallegadda Forest Park, at Harshaguda village of Maheshwaram has been developed on 87.41 hectares.
- Sirigiripuram Forest Park in Sirigiripur village, Maheshwaram Mandal, is spread over 102.39 hectares.
- Srinagar Forest Park in Srinagar Village in Thukkuguda Municipality,is spread over 526.91 hectares.
- Manyamkancha Forest Park in Kandukur is developed in 58.78 hectares, and
- Tumaloor Forest Park in Maheswaram.
Some Of The Facilities In these Parks Are:
Pathways, Safari Tracks, Gazebos, washrooms, watch towers and benches are provided for visitors.
Note: A Gazebo is a small building, especially one in the garden of a house, that gives a wide view of the surrounding area. a freestanding roofed structure usually open on the sides.
With the allocation of the Green Budget by the Telangana Government, the HMDA has been able to develop the urban forest parks without any hurdle.
On Wednesday, on his twitter handle, Urban Development Spl Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar tweeted that no metro city in the country other than Hyderabad has URBAN LUNG SPACE.
There are 59 Urban Forest Blocks covering 60K acres within #HMDA of which 16 having 15K acres are developed by @HMDA_Gov.
