Somesh Kumar (IAS: 1989: AP), who was previously the chief secretary of Telangana before being transferred to Andhra Pradesh, has received approval from the Andhra Pradesh government for his voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).
He has yet to be given a position, despite reporting to the Chief Minister as required by court orders.

The proposal for Kumar’s VRS was expected to be cleared after the approval of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Somesh Kumar, who has previously held a number of positions, including Anantapur collector, has expressed no interest in extending his service, which is due to expire in December 2023.
Now, he will choose his next course of action based on the various opportunities available to him, including the position of Secretary to the Telangana government. as K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, is known to be a close associate with Kumar.
It is being reported that he is likely to join Telangana Chief Minister KCR as an advisor.
