Rudra Gaurav Shresth, an officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) batch of 1999, has been designated as the next Indian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Prior to this appointment, Shresth served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
He was empanelled to hold Joint Secretary-level positions in the Government of India on March 11, 2020.
He was subsequently appointed as Joint Secretary in the PMO for a term up to February 9, 2023.
He is expected to assume his new role as Ambassador to Iran soon.
