GST revenue surpass ₹1.6 lakh cr benchmark for the 5th instance since the implementation of GST.
The income generated from domestic transactions (inclusive of service imports) displays a 15% annual growth.
In July 2023, the total GST revenue collected amounted to ₹1,65,105 crore.
This sum included ₹29,773 crore in Central GST (CGST), ₹37,623 crore in State GST (SGST), ₹85,930 crore in Integrated GST (IGST) – with an additional ₹41,239 crore generated through the import of goods – and cess at ₹11,779 crore, of which ₹ 840 crore was collected on import of goods.
The government proceeded to reconcile ₹39,785 crore to CGST and ₹33,188 crore to SGST from the IGST revenue.
Post this regular settlement, the total revenue in July 2023 stood at ₹69,558 crore for the Centre under CGST and ₹70,811 crore for the States under SGST.
In July 2023, the revenue reported a growth of 11% compared to the GST revenue from the corresponding month in the previous year.
Revenue garnered from domestic transactions, inclusive of service imports, also marked a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
This is the fifth instance of gross GST collection crossing the benchmark of Rs. 1.60 lakh crore.
The following chart presents monthly gross GST earnings trends in the ongoing year. Table-1 outlines the GST amounts gathered by respective states in July 2023 in comparison with July 2022.
Table-2 reveals the segments of the IGST, specifically the SGST and SGST portions, allocated to the States/UTs in July 2023.
