New Delhi: In a major crackdown on counterfeit consumer goods, police in Delhi have busted an illegal toothpaste manufacturing unit operating in the outer part of the city.
The owner of the unit has been arrested, exposing a dangerous network producing fake oral care products under the guise of trusted brands.

According to police, the unit was manufacturing and packaging duplicate toothpaste using low-grade chemicals in unsanitary conditions.
Authorities seized thousands of counterfeit tubes, along with raw materials and packaging designed to closely mimic well-known brands.

Investigations revealed that workers were filling locally made paste into branded-looking tubes, making it nearly impossible for consumers to distinguish between genuine and fake products.
These counterfeit products are not just illegal—they are a direct threat to public health,” a senior police official said during the investigation.
Health experts have raised serious concerns, warning that such counterfeit products could lead to oral infections, gum damage, and long-term health complications due to the unknown composition of the ingredients used.

Police officials stated that the operation was being run without any valid licenses or regulatory approvals, highlighting gaps in monitoring illegal manufacturing activities.
The incident underscores a growing concern around counterfeit everyday products infiltrating the market, posing risks not only to consumer health but also to brand integrity and trust.
Authorities have urged consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing daily-use products and to buy only from reliable sources.
