The China Pakistan Economic Corridor was started in 2013. The illegal corridor would improve Pakistan’s road, rail and energy transportation infrastructure. It also has plans to connect the deep-sea port of Gwadar with China’s Xinjiang province in this project.
India on Tuesday condemned CHINA and PAKISTAN for their “TRYING” to stimulate “Third Countries” to involve them in Projects with regard to their MULTI BILLION DOLLAR connectivity corridor that go through Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK)
CPEC is a 3,000-km long route of infrastructure projects connecting China’s northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Gwadar Port in the western province of Balochistan in Pakistan.
INDIA firmly and consistently objects to the so-called CPEC, which actually comes under the Indian region that has been allegedly occupied by Pakistan.
In a stinging reaction, Arindam Bagchi, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson said such efforts under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are “deep-rooted, illegal, felonious and unacceptable”, and will be treated accordingly by India.

It is to be noted that the Indian Government has continuously been reproving projects in the so-called CPEC projects which are in India’s region that has been unlawfully occupied by Pakistan.
At a meeting that was held on Friday, 22nd July 2022 of the CPEC Joint Working Group (JWG) on International Cooperation and Coordination, it was learnt that Pakistan and China invited interested third countries to participate in the primary CPEC initiative.
China and Pakistan had signed more than 50 agreements in April 2015 on several verticals including agriculture, education, power generation, infrastructure projects, telecommunication etc. Out of these, around 30 agreements are related to the Economic Corridor named China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
It is a matter of serious concern to India as it would give China direct access to the waters of Indian Ocean and beyond. Also note that before to this, the Pak and China had released a so called “Karamay Declaration” in Aug 2015, a component of China’s One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative which defines Pakistan’s role.
“We have learnt after seeing the reports on welcoming third countries in so-called CPEC projects – Any such participation by any country directly infringe on India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Bagchi said.
India has been authoritatively objecting the BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE (BRI) as CPEC is part of the project. The CPEC is also the part of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as per the reports. (PTI).
