Recently, the Hyderabad Traffic Police in view of Security And Safety measures, have booked several motorists with criminal cases who failed to rectify invalid registration plates of their vehicles, despite reminders.
In last July month alone, more than 100 motorists have been booked for cheating in different police stations limits.
On inquiring why suddenly the cops started booking criminal cases, a Sr Traffic Inspector said, that after several reminders and warnings failed, they started booking criminal cases.
Violators generally move with tampered plates or vehicles without number plates which is a serious offense and is a law and order issue, some one can do some serious crime and can escape.
Authorities are invoking Section 420 of the IPC and other sections of the Motor Vehicle Act against the criminals.
Majorly, its been observed that vehicle owners try to evade traffic penalties. It amounts to cheating in the eyes of Law and the government and the traffic police see it as an offence/crime.
Hence, a cheating case is being booked and the vehicle is seized,” the Sr traffic police said.
Following the procedure, the vehicle is detained and duly informed to the local law and order PS, who then takes the vehicle owner/rider to the PS and registers a criminal case based on the complaint of the Traffic police.
However, the police is unable to clarify if the traffic cop screws someone out of grudge or in a fit of anger which may ruin the life of the innocent and weak vehicle owner, if any. for ex. see this video.

It is very clear that the concerned traffic inspector in the video is misusing his powers against a college student.
This is an excellent drive to curb the criminals intention. The vehicles without a number plate or tampered registration numbers, they must be booked, but what is the guarantee that you are booking a real criminal? and not the one who questions you back for details and you loose your temper and book him under various sections of IPC.
Not only this, just putting him through, the violator has to attend court till the completion of the trial, after a case is booked, which could ultimately lead to a lot of inconvenience and pain for an innocent.
Criminals adopt many ways to escape traffic challans after committing crime. Earlier checks exposed few, who removed a digit or alphabet while others hid a digit or alphabet by pasting a paper, plaster or cloth over it, the police informed.
In our Previous Post where we mentioned that – We do not need the law to rule the weak, in nature, the weak are subject to the strong by definition. Of course, the strong – in whatever way – leverage their power to make laws, or bend the law in their favour.
Earlier, the Jt CP released a Press Note that anyone driving without a licensed plate will be sent to jail.
However, no police officer or authority even cared to answer or they do not have answers for our blunt questions, on how would they cope up with the authorities who break the rules themselves ignoring the calls of the top cop. Or is it that the rules are made only for weak?.

We would like to know, if you also register criminal cases against the officers in your fence for the similar violations?.
Keeping in view of the safe and solid governance for the safety of all, and to really experience the tagline of NEW TELANGANA POLICE , who intent;s on delivering “One State-One Service-One Experience” as called by DGP, Sri Mahender Reddy, raise several questions, unanswered.
The communication is one sided. More and more NGO’s like KnowYourRights whose aim is to make people aware of their rights and support them to fight for their rights and Society for Safety of Public and Good Governance – who believes in Making awareness on the Laws and Rules. |No politics No Religion| Only Truth, Democracy and Public Interest – should come forward and question to expose abuses of power and betrayals of the public trust by government or by the police force especially the biased one, as long as it takes to hold power to account.
In the days to come, when the world has shrunk to wavelengths and information-sharing through the social media, people should ask and question more to bring about major changes in equal laws.
Therefore we see it essential as our vision and mission to take a critical look at the role and the responsibilities of the Police and elected authorities.
