Contractor Locks Working School Over Unpaid Bills By Government
Frustrated over the delay in clearing his bills for building a school construction work under the ‘Mana Ooru, Mana Badi’ programme, a contractor locked the Mandal Parishad Primary School during school hours at Chintakunta in Kottapalli mandal on Tuesday.
Srikanth, is said to have incurred Rs 4.5 lakh expenses from his pocket which he borrowed for the development work and ran from pillar to post for his pending bills clearance.
As per report, he has done about 75 per cent of the work, but have not received a single rupee so far.
He said that unbearable pressure is upon him to repay his loan.
Though he is unwilling to disturb the education of the children, he was forced to lock the school out of desperation, he said.
The students were forced to stay out under the shade of the trees after srikanth locked the school.
The issue has been recorded by one of the teacher and brought to the notice of District Educational Officer (DEO) CHVS Janardhan Rao who sent the Mandal Educational Officer to look into the matter.
Following the talks with MEO, the Srikanth got convinced and removed the lock.
DEO Janardhan Rao promised that srikant’s bills would be cleared as soon as possible.
