CCTV Footage: How
Video footage from the location where gangster Sharad Mohol was shot dead in Pune’s Kothrud reveals that the attackers, who were walking alongside him, pulled out guns.
They first shot him in the back and then targeted his head and shoulders when he turned.
The 39-year-old, dressed in a bright green kurta, collapsed in the narrow lanes as the assailants fled after firing at least four rounds.
Mohol, a resident of Sutardara in Kothrud and originally from Mutha village in Mulshi taluka, Pune district, was quickly taken to Sahyadri Hospital in Kothrud but was declared dead there, according to the police.
On Friday night, eight individuals, including the main suspect Sahil, also known as Munna Polekar and a resident of Sutardara, were apprehended on Pune-Satara Road near Shirwal.
Pune Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr stated that, based on initial findings, the assault appears to be a result of internal discord within Mohol’s gang, specifically stemming from a financial disagreement.
Arun Dhumal, a 32-year-old associate of Mohol, filed the first information report (FIR) regarding the case at the Kothrud police station.
According to the police, Mohol, whose wedding anniversary was on Friday, had departed from his office in Sutardara with his wife.
They were en route to the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganesh Temple in their four-wheeler when the incident unfolded.
