The preceding chairman of CBIC, Mr. Vivek Johri (IRS C&IT: 1985), was officially bid farewell on Monday evening, leaving the Board without a leader.
The occurrence is considered rare in recent history as nobody was chosen for an interim charge for the position of Chairperson.
Though the Selection Committee had a meeting on 26th July in which they considered the candidatures of Mr. Rajiv Talwar (IRS C&IT: 1988) and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal (IRS C&IT: 1988) for the essential position, the final decision regarding the appointment is yet to be announced.
