A student of the Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) Alekhya, won the Gold Medal in the 420 CLASS SAILING COMPETITION at YAI – Youth Multi Class Sailing & Kite board Championship 2022.
The 420 tournament is a popular sport game among Europe and the US and is now getting popular in India.
Alekya’s winning is a stepping stone to the larger 470 class events in the ASIAN GAMES and OLYMPIC GAMES as she wish to represent India at the world’s 420 class championship.

Her coach Brijraj Verma of the Indian Navy Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC) is a renowned champion from Mumbai who has won several awards and represented India at International Sailing Championships.
What Does 420 mean in Sailing?
The 420 is a youth development boat in 43 countries and is the boat used for the two-person boys dinghy, and two-person girls dinghy events at the Youth Sailing World Championships, the pinnacle youth sailing event in the world.
The event was conducted from Aug 7 to 13 at the Krishnarajsagar Dam on the Cauvery River in Mandya Karnataka, by Trishna Sailing Club, the Madras Sappers, and General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure Under the Aegis of The Yachting Association of India.
Apart from her sports, academically Alekhya scored 94% in her Indian Certificate of Secondary Education ( ICSE ) board exam and is working out for the NEET to course a career in medicine.
