Senior Judge and DLSA Secretary Address Child Safety at Vijaya High School on Children’s Day
In an impactful Children’s Day celebration on November 14 today, the Senior Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) from Medchal Malkajgiri Court paid a special visit to Vijaya High School in Aditya Nagar, Khapra Mandal.
Their presence highlighted the importance of educating young minds about safety, awareness, and their rights amidst growing concerns about child safety and protection in society.
Addressing a large gathering of students, teachers, and staff, the Judge emphasized the need for awareness on the rising incidents of child exploitation and abuse.
“Today, more than ever, children need to be informed about the dangers they may face and how to protect themselves,” the Judge stated, underlining the urgency of empowering children with knowledge and awareness. They stressed that knowing the basic do’s and don’ts is essential to personal safety.
The Judge explained that children should be vigilant in their daily interactions and must be aware of their rights, especially when it comes to understanding inappropriate behavior or unsafe situations.
“You are the future of our society, and safeguarding your well-being is our collective responsibility,” the Judge said. The message was a call to action for both students and faculty to be proactive in creating a safe environment and to break the silence around topics like abuse, bullying, and exploitation.
In a clear and compassionate manner, the Judge outlined the basic rights every child should be aware of, as provided by the law.
This included the Right to Education, the Right to Protection from Abuse, the Right to Health, and the Right to Freedom from Exploitation.
Emphasizing that these are not just abstract principles, the Judge assured the students that DLSA and other authorities are committed to helping any child who may need support.
The Secretary of the DLSA highlighted the role of community and institutions in promoting child safety. Schools, they explained, are pivotal places for nurturing awareness.
The Secretary encouraged children to share their concerns with trusted adults and assured them that DLSA is available to provide assistance.
Additionally, they gave practical advice on distinguishing between safe and unsafe interactions, reporting inappropriate behavior, and seeking help if they feel threatened.
The Judge’s speech concluded with a promise to make more resources available to children and schools in the region, offering the support of DLSA for any issues related to children’s rights and safety.
Their visit was a powerful reminder that awareness and legal education can play a significant role in protecting the most vulnerable members of our society—our children.
