Indians must take caution and be vigilant in canda, says GOI issuing an advisory for Indian nationals and students living in Canada.
Those traveling to Canada for travel/education are advised “due caution and remain vigilant”.
There has been an increase in incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India activities against Indian nationals.
The Ministry of External Affairs and our High Commissions/Consulates General in Canada have raised these events with Canadian authorities, requesting an investigation and necessary action,” it said.

- It is to be noted that a 23-year-old Indian boy was found slain at an apartment in Truro, Nova Scotia, earlier this month, with community members fearing it was a racially motivated hate crime.
- Canada is also a global base for the Khalistan movement, a separatist movement that seeks to carve out of India a homeland called Khalistan for Sikhs.
- Before being crushed in the 1990s, the Khalistani terrorist organizations conducted a violent insurgency in India for decades.
- India views the Khalistani activities in Canada and the Canadian government’s moderate stance on the subject seriously.
