Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) clinched the second position among the top 20 global airports renowned for their excellent On-Time Performance (OTP).
This acknowledgment stems from Cirium, an aviation analytics firm, as per its recently released annual report on Tuesday.
The recognition underscores RGIA’s remarkable efficiency and reliability in maintaining timely flight operations, solidifying its status as one of the world’s top-performing airports in terms of punctuality.
In the global and large-airports categories, both Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Kempegowda International Airport demonstrated improved punctuality, securing the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively, according to Cirium’s annual report.
Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport claimed the third position globally and in the large airports category.
Handling 2.37 lakh flights in 2023, with a tracking rate of 90.38%, it achieved an on-time departure performance of 84.08% and an on-time arrival performance of 77.79%, experiencing an average departure delay of 53 minutes. The airport served 93 routes with 37 airlines.
The OTP review categorized airports based on flight activity, and Indian airports, consistent with the previous year’s trend, demonstrated improved punctuality.
Both Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Kempegowda International Airport advanced to the second and third positions, respectively, in both the global and large airports categories, according to the report.
