GHMC Intensifies Pre-SIR Process Monitoring in Malakpet Assembly Constituency
In a significant step towards ensuring transparent and error-free electoral rolls, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and district election authorities have intensified monitoring of the Pre-SIR process across assembly constituencies in Hyderabad.
Acting on the directions of GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer Sri R.V. Karnan, a detailed review meeting on Pre-Special Intensive Revision (Pre-SIR) mapping activities was conducted for the 58-Malakpet Assembly Constituency under the supervision of Smt. Chandrakala, Additional Commissioner (Elections).

The meeting brought together Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Booth Level Officer (BLO) supervisors to assess the progress of field-level electoral verification activities.
Officials discussed strategies to improve voter data accuracy, streamline booth-level mapping, and ensure the timely completion of the Pre-SIR process.
Why the Pre-SIR Process Matters
The Pre-Special Intensive Revision is a crucial stage before the final revision of electoral rolls. The exercise helps election authorities:
- Verify voter information and remove inaccuracies
- Identify duplicate or outdated voter records
- Ensure proper booth-level mapping of voters
- Improve transparency in the electoral system
- Strengthen voter accessibility and participation
Officials emphasized that accurate electoral rolls are essential for conducting free, fair, and transparent elections.
Focus on Booth-Level Coordination
During the review, special attention was given to the role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who act as the backbone of field verification work.
Authorities instructed BLO supervisors to closely monitor field activities and maintain continuous coordination with election staff.
The officials also reviewed mapping activities to ensure that voters are correctly linked to their designated polling stations.
Any mismatch or delay in voter verification can lead to complications during elections, making the Pre-SIR process a highly sensitive administrative exercise.
“Strict adherence to Election Commission guidelines is essential to maintain the credibility and accuracy of the electoral process,” Smt. Chandrakala stated during the meeting.
Key Instructions Issued During the Meeting
Authorities issued several important directions to election staff, including:
- Timely completion of voter verification activities
- Strengthening coordination between BLOs and supervisors
- Ensuring accurate booth-level mapping
- Monitoring field-level operations regularly
- Following Election Commission norms without deviation
- Maintaining transparency in electoral data handling
The review reflects the administration’s focus on improving electoral preparedness ahead of future elections.
Public Importance of the Exercise
For citizens, the Pre-SIR process plays a direct role in ensuring that eligible voters are correctly included in electoral rolls while errors are minimized.
Accurate voter records help avoid confusion on polling day and strengthen public confidence in the democratic process.
Residents are also expected to cooperate with booth-level officers during field verification visits by providing correct information and supporting documentation wherever required.
With election authorities continuing regular reviews across constituencies, the administration aims to complete the Pre-SIR process efficiently and transparently across Hyderabad.
