MSMEs Powering India’s Defence Future
Over 40 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will showcase cutting-edge defence technologies and equipment during the conclave.
With more than 100 MSMEs in Coimbatore already engaged in the defence sector, the region has rapidly evolved into a precision engineering and advanced manufacturing hub.
Exhibits will feature ground support systems, drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed locally.
Policy, Indigenisation, and Industry Readiness
According to Codissia President M. Karthikeyan, the conclave will serve as a platform for critical discussions on defence procurement reforms, indigenisation strategies, policy frameworks, and quality standards.
Expert-led panels will explore ways to strengthen collaboration between MSMEs, startups, and defence organisations, fostering readiness for large-scale national projects.
Showcasing Local Innovation and Capability
CDIIC CEO Vinodh Kumar noted that Coimbatore-based firms are already playing a pivotal role in national defence programs.
Four local companies are producing ground support equipment for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s Advanced Light Combat Helicopters, while another enterprise has developed an indigenous attack UAV currently under Indian Air Force trials.
Several others have supplied operational drones to the IAF, highlighting Coimbatore’s growing technological capability.
Building Coimbatore as a Defence Hub
The conclave underscores Coimbatore’s vision to become a major defence manufacturing hub within five years.
By uniting innovators, investors, and policymakers, the event aims to strengthen regional participation in India’s defence ecosystem, driving self-reliance, innovation, and global competitiveness in the sector.
