PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stones for Major Development Projects in Delhi
In line with his vision of ‘Housing for All,’ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit the newly constructed flats for the dwellers of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi, on January 3, 2025.
The visit is scheduled for 12:10 PM, followed by the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony for multiple development projects in the national capital at 12:45 PM.
Housing for JJ Cluster Residents
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats at Swabhiman Apartments, marking the completion of the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project.
Designed to provide residents of JJ clusters with a better and healthier living environment, these flats are equipped with modern amenities and facilities.
Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries contribute less than 7% of the government’s expenditure of Rs 25 lakh per flat. This includes a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.
During the event, the Prime Minister will personally hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries, furthering the government’s commitment to uplifting underprivileged communities.
Urban Redevelopment Projects
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two major urban redevelopment projects in Delhi:
- World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar:
The WTC has transformed the area by replacing over 600 dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers. Spanning 34 lakh square feet, the premium commercial space features advanced amenities and incorporates sustainable practices such as zero-discharge systems, solar energy generation, and rainwater harvesting. - General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar:
This project includes 28 towers housing over 2,500 modern residential units. Designed with eco-conscious living in mind, the quarters are equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors.
CBSE Integrated Office Complex
At Dwarka, Delhi, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex, constructed at a cost of Rs 300 crore.
The eco-friendly complex includes state-of-the-art offices, an auditorium, an advanced data center, and a comprehensive water management system.
Built to meet Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), the facility represents a benchmark in sustainable infrastructure.
New Projects for Delhi University
In a significant boost to higher education, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three new projects in Delhi University, collectively worth over Rs 600 crore. These projects include:
- An academic block in the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi.
- An academic block in the Western Campus at Dwarka.
- Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, equipped with state-of-the-art educational facilities.
These initiatives reaffirm the government’s commitment to sustainable urban development, quality education, and improving the quality of life for all citizens.
