NHA – National Health Authority, announced performance-based funds to nourish the registries of healthcare professionals and facilities at State/ UT level
Out of Rs. 500 cr granted for setting-up the state offices of ABDM over a period of 5 years, Rs. 100 cr would be given to the States/UTs based on their performance.
According to a press release, the NHA allocated, performance based funds to States and Union Territories for implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) for recording data in the Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR).
Apart from the 500 cr that has been allocated already as per earlier guidelines to set up ABDM offices at State / UT level in 5 years (FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26) these new funds would help in structured implementation in setting up of ABDM with verified entries building up the key national registries.
20% of these funds, i.e., Rs. 100 crores were set aside as incentive-based funds.

To propel this task, NHA decided to enhance the current fund allocation limit depending upon the performance of respective states and UTs in terms of number of entries of such doctors, nurses etc. and health facilities like hospitals, clinics, health & wellness centres, diagnostic labs, pharmacies etc, verification in an allotted time, by state agencies.
The data of Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) is important to achieve the objectives of ABDM. This would also weed out unqualified health professionals.
In accordance, NHA has defined the framework for fund allocation as:
- Rs. 100 for each verified entry in HFR & HPR till 31st Dec 22
- Rs. 50 for each verified entry in HFR & HPR between 1st Jan 2023 to 31st March 2023
- No funds will be allocated for entries verified in HFR & HPR after 31st March 2023
- States and UTs are at liberty to utilize these funds for hiring human resources full time or part time for ABDM
