An unprecedented number of applications for liquor shop licenses are being recorded in Shamshabad, Telangana. An overwhelming count of prospective applicants could potentially surpass previous records from several years.
With five days remaining till the final submission date, 3,000 applications have been submitted for merely 100 available licenses.
The existing licenses are valid until November 30, 2023. However, due to the state assembly elections scheduled for the end of this year, the tender process began early in August.
A competitive atmosphere has surrounded the application process and has seen such an influx of applications that in less than a week already over 50,000 forms have been received by the Excise Department.
This elevated number of applications considerably surpasses last year’s count, and it’s projected that it could set a new record.
