Bodapati Sejal, the CEO of Origin Dairy, who had previously filed a complaint with the National Women Commission (NWC) regarding alleged sexual harassment by BRS’s Bellamapalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah, reportedly made an attempt to end her life by consuming sleeping pills.
Sejal had accused the MLA of ongoing sexual harassment and claimed that her complaint had been disregarded by the Telangana state police. She had even approached BRS MPs in Delhi to seek justice and had organized a protest.
It should be noted that this is the second suicide attempt by Sejal, following Sejal’s suicide attempt at the BRS office premises in Delhi a few days prior, she was found unconscious near the Peddamma Talli Temple in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.
Last month:
Earlier she had declared her determination to continue her struggle for justice in the national capital. After being discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital last month, Sejal addressed the media at Telangana Bhavan.
She revealed that the harassment she endured from the MLA and his followers, including the morphing and sharing of her photos on social media, led her to contemplate suicide.
However, Sejal expressed her disappointment with the lack of response from both the state government and the police.
A passerby noticed her lying on the footpath around 1 pm and promptly informed the police. Sejal was found in an unconscious state and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities discovered sleeping pills and a note in her handbag.
In the letter, Sejal alleged that the Telangana state police had failed to address her complaint against the MLA from the ruling party, and she expressed disappointment in the MPs who had promised to ensure justice for her.
Sejal also mentioned receiving threats from unidentified individuals due to her decision to file complaints against the MLA.
Police stated that she had expressed a desire to find peace in the Peddamma Talli Temple, where she was discovered.
However, according to the Jubilee Hills Police, there is suspicion of a suicide attempt, but the exact motive can only be determined through a thorough investigation.
It should be noted that Sejal had previously accused BRS MLA D Chinnaiah, representing Bellampally, of soliciting sexual favors in exchange for official tasks, as per the police.
The lady has also addressed this harassment on social media platforms several times.
According to media reports, it is speculated that Sejal may have ingested sleeping pills in an attempt to take her own life. A note discovered near her unconscious body purportedly indicated that she felt deprived of justice.
It can be anticipated that Sejal’s resolution to seek justice remains strong, and she intends to pursue her cause relentlessly in the hope of holding the MLA accountable for his alleged actions.
