According to insider information, Apple Inc, renowned manufacturer of the popular iPhone, is set to start the production of their wireless earbuds, AirPods at Foxconn’s Hyderabad facility.
Foxconn has finalized an investment of $400 million towards their Hyderabad establishment which is slated to initiate mass production by 2024.
It is noteworthy that in this March 2023 Foxconn announced a ‘substantial investment’ in Telangana, potentially creating 100,000 jobs within the next decade.
Foxconn’s Hyderabad branch is primarily responsible for the production of AirPods, with mass production targeted to kick off in December, explained a source to PTI.
This information has been verified by another source who is privy to the insider workings.
However, despite our attempts at inquiry, no responses were received from Apple or Foxconn.
Notably, this is the second product from Apple’s portfolio, with the iPhone being the first to be produced in India.
Globally, Apple’s AirPods are leading the TWS (true wireless stereo) market.
In the last quarter of 2022 (December 2022), Apple ruled the worldwide market of True Wireless Stereo (TWS), capturing around 36% of it, as stated by Canalys, a research firm.
Samsung trailed them, securing 7.5% of the market share, followed by Xiaomi at 4.4%, Boat at 4%, and Oppo at 3%.
This year, Xiaomi began the production of its TWS in India at the Optiemus Electronics plant located in Noida.
