Udasin Mutt are the actual owners – The SC ruled that the 540 Acres and 30 guntas land at Y Junction in Kukatpally belonged to the Udasin Mutt of Husaini Alam.
The Supreme Court denied Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd’s (previously Indian Detonators Ltd) claim to the land and dismissed its case.
According the Muntakab, the land was donated to the Udasin Mutt started by the elder son of Guru Nanak, by a priest Kamalapathi Baba in 1904.

Muntakhab is Certificate of Grant issued by the Commissioner of Inam, Revenue Department.
In 1961, the land was leased to M/s Indian Detonators Ltd, which later changed its name to IDL Chemicals Ltd and then to IDL Industries Ltd in 1995. In 2002, the name was changed once more to Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd.
The 99-year lease was granted in four installments in 1964, 1968, 1969, and 1979.
However, the lessee corporation breached the lease agreement by doing real estate activities on the site as well as 300 acres of its own land.
Also, by mortgaging the leasehold rights, it received a commercial loan from SBI, creating an encumbrance over the leased property.
Aside from that, a 20-acre plot of property has been converted into a graveyard due to a lack of care on the part of the lessees.
Because the conversion violated the lease’s terms, the Mutt has terminated the lease with the firm.
On Dec 24, 2007, the then Mahant, Arundas Udasin, filed a complaint with the Assistant Commissioner Of Endowments, AP, citing a breach of lease restrictions and demanding eviction of the corporation under Section 83 of Act 33/2007.
As the legal conflict erupted, the case was heard in places such as the AP Endowments Tribunal in Hyderabad and the High Court in New Delhi.
The land was deemed to be the property of the Udasin Mutt by all forums. In 2013, the Supreme Court ordered the status quo, when the corporation filed an appeal with it.
Following multiple rounds of hearings, the Supreme Court ruled that the land belongs to the Udasin Mutt.
