The Telangana Government has appointed A Sudarshan Reddy, a seasoned advocate, as the State’s advocate general (AG).

This decision was made based on orders from the law secretary and approved by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Sudarshan Reddy, originally from Rachapalli village in Sarangapur mandal of Jagtial district, completed his education at St Paul’s School, Nizam College, and Osmania University Law School.

Born on May 25, 1959, Sudarshan Reddy started his legal career on October 22, 1985. Notably, he was classmates with former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy at Nizam College.

After the TRS (now BRS) government took office in Telangana in 2014, Reddy stepped down from his position. However, with the recent Congress victory in the State Assembly elections, ministers and senior leaders decided to appoint Reddy as the AG due to his extensive experience.

Previously, Sudarshan Reddy served as the AG of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh from January 17, 2011, to June 3, 2014.

He was the first AG of Telangana origin to hold this position in United AP. Additionally, he served as the AG for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the President’s Rule in 2014, amidst the demarcation of the State.

Enrolling as an advocate in 1985, Sudarshan Reddy practiced law in various courts, including the high courts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, city civil courts, Rangareddy courts, and other legal forums.
